Paul S. Chirgott, who is admitted to the USPTO bar, is an experienced patent prosecution and litigation attorney providing comprehensive intellectual property litigation and corporate legal services to clients ranging from dynamic startups to established multinational corporations. His areas of expertise encompass patent and IP law counseling; patent applications and complete patent prosecution; other USPTO patent and trademark actions; patent infringement litigation; intellectual property (IP) strategy, litigation and IP risk management; corporate and IP transactional matters; general business law; and work as an outside corporate general and IP legal counsel. Paul is dedicated to helping clients navigate complex legal landscapes, optimize and license their IP portfolios, and achieve strategic business goals. He is also a key partner in patent and other IP strategy counseling and in the handling of IP audits for corporate clients.

In his extensive experience, Paul held distinguished positions at major corporations including time as corporate and IP counsel at PPG Industries, Rohm and Haas Company, GrafTech International and Fourway Properties L.P., where he served as General Counsel. Before joining Houston Harbaugh, he conducted a private law practice helping corporate clients to develop and implement strategies to grow, protect and license their IP portfolios and to strategically protect their bottom line. His private practice included the drafting of patent applications in various technical fields, pursuing the prosecution of patents for his clients, drafting IP license agreements, and providing patent infringement litigation support to clients and other law firms.

Paul has a strong and diverse technical background and has an undergraduate dual degree in chemistry and economics. He is a seasoned patent attorney and counselor with a proven track record of delivering results, assisting with patent litigation, protecting clients’ interests, and driving business success through effective legal and IP counseling and strategic IP thinking.
