July 5, 2018 | Brandon McCullough is co-author and co-editor of Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Compendium

April 5, 2018

Litigation attorney R. Brandon McCullough contributed significantly to the content and publication of Unfair Claims Settlement Practices (UCP) Compendium published by DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar which is now available for purchase.

The UCP Compendium serves as a comprehensive resource for insurance carriers, claims representatives, and insurance defense and coverage counsel. It addresses each state’s response to the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s Model Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act. The Compendium directs the reader to that state’s statutes or rules where the various UCP practices and timing provision can be found. The Compendium covers all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition, each author provides practice tips related to insurance claims practices in that jurisdiction.

Compendium authors were selected based upon their breadth and depth of experience and their knowledge in defending UCP claims. McCullough was selected to be co-editor in chief of the entire Compendium as well as to co-author the Pennsylvania chapter.

McCullough concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, complex commercial and business litigation, and appellate litigation. He has represented insurance companies in a wide array of coverage disputes in trial courts and on appeal in both state and federal court. He has litigated and counseled clients on issues involving numerous types of commercial and personal lines insurance policies, and defended insurers in high-stakes bad faith cases. He previously served as a regional editor and author of the Pennsylvania chapter for the DRI Duty to Defend Compendium which was published in 2016.

As a result of his involvement in the UCP Compendium, McCullough has since been asked to serve as Compendium Vice-Chair for the DRI Insurance Law Committee. In this role he oversees the creation, drafting, editing and publication of all compendia published by the DRI Insurance Law Committee.

The Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Compendium is available for purchase on DRI’s website. Copies of six or more can be purchased at a bulk discount by calling DRI customer service at (312) 795-1101.
