Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the fields of Marketing or Business Development;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
  • Interest in the legal profession or in learning about the firm and practice areas to become an expert quickly;
  • Friendly and respectful demeanor;
  • Experience with current website management software, creating blogs, electronic databases, electronic communication to clients, website management, multiple social media, use of analytics, etc.;
  • Experience with event planning, public relations placements, branding, and media purchases;
  • Self-starter who not only takes initiative without being directed but is able to successfully drive projects through to completion, meeting timelines and budgets;
  • Experience managing direct reports, cross-functional teams, and outside partners.
  • Highly organized, responsive, and creative.

About the Job:

We are a multi-practice Law Firm looking for a marketing professional with a diverse set of marketing skills to help grow our law firm. Ideal candidates will recognize that the firm’s size presents a unique opportunity to showcase their marketing and business development skills. You will not only help develop and implement the firms marketing plan, but you will also be responsible for analyzing and reporting data and performing the day-to-day marketing and business development activities. You will be working in the office and attending meetings and events outside the office. You will report to Houston Harbaugh’s Chief Operating Officer and will collaborate regularly with the attorneys. Salary is commensurate with experience plus benefits (eg: health insurance, 401(k)) and bonus plan based on performance and evaluations by lawyers, COO and firm leadership.

Responsibilities Fall Into 6 Key Buckets:

  1. Set and execute the marketing, branding and business development initiatives to create growth;
    1. Plan, implement, and manage marketing strategy, including setting marketing and branding goals and objectives;
    2. Procure and manage marketing vendors as needed including firm’s web host and maintenance company;
    3. Supervise administrative assistant and others assigned to assist marketing activities. Attend Firm’s practice area group meetings and individual meetings with lawyers;
  2. Promote the Firm and the Attorneys strategically and regularly.
    1. Regularly promote the firm and the attorneys across publications, media, events, directories, review sites, etc.;
    2. Plan, manage, and track paid advertising initiatives and branding strategies;
    3. Create and manage physical marketing initiatives (i.e. direct mailers, gifts, swag);
    4. Effectively use a combination of organic and paid content marketing to target ideal clients;
    5. Supervise the firm’s RFP protocol process including soliciting RFPs from desirable prospective clients and written proposals for new business;
  3. Manage content strategy, creation, and tracking across all channels.
    1. Keep website fresh and associated blogs, up-to-date, and optimized using content creation, best practices, and SEO tools;
    2. Create, execute, and track written and video content for email, social media, website (including blogs and press releases), and other digital marketing; campaigns; work with lawyers on content generation;
    3. Create or assist in creating templates and slides for presentations;
  4. Industry and community engagement and monitoring.
    1. Plan Firm related Marketing events;
    2. Attend community social functions during business and non-business hours;
    3. Identify speaking engagements for attorneys and assist in content development for attorney speaking engagements;
    4. Speak at community events and attend marketing business networking meetings;
    5. Keep tabs on the competitive landscape;
  5. Consistent and growth focused management of referrals, contacts, and existing clients.
    1. Develop and maintain contact relationship management software (CRM) or other relevant database;
    2. Generate, develop, and effectively manage referral sources including lawyers, businesses, and other members of the community;
    3. Obtain client reviews across multiple online platforms;
  6. Regular metrics reporting, data analysis, and budget management.
    1. Generate reports to track KPI’s and analyze marketing data from intake leads, social media, organic search, and other digital marketing;
    2. Manage and track against an established marketing budget;
    3. Monthly dashboard reporting to entire firm of all marketing and business development efforts.

Responsibilities:  

Managing a staff of at least three; handling all firm accounting, including general ledger maintenance; accounts receivable; accounts payable; preparing payroll; taxes and tax filings; financial reporting; financial performance analysis; month-end and year-end closing; banking relationships; cash flow management; bank account and credit card reconciliations; regular improvement of the accounting functions; enforcing financial procedures; budgeting; payroll; recommending initiatives to improve expense management.

The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
  • Minimum of 5 years of similar accounting experience.  Experience in a law firm or similar setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strength in debits & credits and familiarity with accounting standards, theories, methods, processes
  • Managerial or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated computer skills, especially with computerized accounting systems, Excel, and web-based financial services. 
  • Demonstrated financial report design experience
  • Experience with payroll programs. Experience with ADP is a plus.

  • Ability to operate with a minimum of supervision, including consistent follow through on assignments
